Your current situation
If you are an employer who is considering making redundancies, we would hope that you want to do that properly, legally, in a way that enables you to hold your head up high, to say that you did your best for your people.
Assuming you’re not making your whole workforce redundant, how you treat those who will be leaving will be studied by those who are not.
If you treat them well, then those left behind will have a belief that if their day comes, then they will be looked after equally well.
That will really help staff morale, at a time when it will undoubtedly be challenged.
Free resources
https://www.gov.uk/staff-redundant is a great place to start if you want to understand what lies ahead of you, as is https://www.cipd.co.uk/knowledge/fundamentals/emp-law/redundancy or https://www.acas.org.uk/manage-staff-redundancies.
If you choose to manage the process yourself, it will of course be free. But if you get it wrong, it can be very expensive, both in legal fees and in penalties or compensation!
Chargeable services
You should either speak to an HR advisor or a specialist in employment law. You may well have an HR resource in house, but is redundancy an area of their expertise?
If you know someone who does this for a living, who you like, and trust, then chat with them about how they might work with you, what they would charge.
If you don’t know someone like that, don’t worry, we do! If you contact us to outline your needs, we will put you in touch with someone suitable, so you can potentially engage them to help you in this area.
There’s no charge for that service – if and when you agree terms with them and pay them for their services, they will then pay us a small commission. We don’t charge you anything at any time.
So – might you want some help with this?
Contact us now – there is absolutely no charge to you for our services, but we do make a small commission if you spend money with one of our contacts, which they pay us when you have paid them for their services.
